The Anacortes Veterans Day Celebration is on Monday, November 12th at 11am and will be located at 100 Commercial Avenue in Anacortes. This local Anacortes event highlights EMCEE Dan Worra while music will be provided by Skagit Swing. Light refreshments will be served.

The State Parks and Recreation Commission is offering a FREE admission to all State Parks! The discover pass will not be required, but will be required to access lands managed by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Department of Natural Resources.

Kick Off to Fishing and Boating Season

Boating and fishing season is upon us here in Skagit County! This is an exciting time of the year as more and more outdoor community events kick off in our area!

Get the kids geared up for some fishing and head to Northern State Pond in Sedro-Woolley for the Kids Fishing Derby on Saturday May 2. Children 14 and under will be able to bring their own bait and gear and go crazy fishing! Gates open at 7 a.m. with fishing starting at 8 a.m. This event is sponsored by the Wildcate Steelhead Club, along with the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife, and General Administration Department of North Cascades Gateway Center. If you aren’t familiar with the area and need directions, here you go..Take HWY 20 East from Fruitdale Road, Left on Fruitdale approximately 1 mile on right hand side, look for signs along the way leading to the gate into the pond.

If you are a boater, the Swinomish Yacht Club in La Conner is holding their 40th Anniversary Opening Day Boat Parade also on Saturday May 2 at 3 p.m beginning at the North Basin. The theme for the parade is celebrating the 70’s and Jaws. If you are interested in participating in the parade, registration is Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at the Clubhouse. Following the parade there will be a Potluck and an Awards Ceremony for prize winners. Music will be going all night long! This is event is located at 310 North 1st Street in La Conner.

We would like to wish everyone  a Happy Easter!

Here in Anacortes if you are looking for something to do for the Easter holiday, The annual Egg Dash is today at 6 pm! This event is located at Storvik Park this event is for ages 12 and under and is FREE! Kids will get the chance to collect plastic eggs filled with candy and other fun surprises! This event is rain or shine, please dress comfortably for rain!!

If you are looking for an indoor activity, you and your family can decorate eggs together Friday from 4pm-7pm and again on Saturday from 2pm to 5pm! This event is at the Sedro-Woolley Hometown Cafe located at 818 Metcalf Street. For only $9.99, you will be supplied with eggs, food coloring, stickers, crayons/markers and other decorations. The price includes a kid’s entrée and drink. $4.99 for each additional dozen Easter eggs. Parents will get 15% off menu items and specials. An R.S.V.P is requested but it is not required. There will have a coloring contest, pictures and prizes; come join the fun!

We’ll have candy filled eggs placed by the Easter Bunny (and helpers) for the kids in our two courtyards. Afterwards, we’ll enjoy some of our famous homemade cookies and punch. FREE EVENT

April 4th: Burlington Easter Egg Hunt – 10am – This event hosted by Burlington-Edison Kiwanis is open for children 1-8yrs of age. The hunts will be separated into age groups: 1-3yrs; 4-5yrs; 6-8yrs. The event kicks off at 10:00 AM and moves rapidly through the age groups. Don’t be late!  FREE EVENT

April 4th: Sedro-Woolley Easter Egg Hunt – 1pm – The Annual Easter Egg Hunt takes place at Riverfront Park.  Children ages crawler to 12 years are welcome to come participate in this family fun event!  Candy filled easter eggs and candy are spread throughout the grass sectioned off by age group waiting for your little one to hunt.  The Wildcat Steelhead Club puts on this annual event with the Sedro-Woolley Chamber. April 4th: Avon United Methodist Church Easter Egg Hunt – 2pm-3pm – Come, rain or shine! Lots of eggs will be hidden throughout the church building for the kids to find – with separate areas for the younger and older children. Coffee and cookies will be available, as well. Our main entrance is located along Avon-Allen Road at the northwest corner of the building. April 4th: Teen Flaghlight Easter Egg Hunt – 8pm – The Burlington Healthy Community Coalition (BHCC) is organizing another H.U.B. Project event – Burlington Teen Flashlight Egg Hunt!  The event will be held at the Whitmarsh Fields with support from the City of Burlington and Kiwanis.  The event is intended to provide a safe and fun activity for Burlington teens.  The H.U.B. Project (Help Unify Burlington) has a mission of uniting the citizens of Burlington in creating a safe and healthy place for our youth to grow and develop.  FREE EVENT
