Unique Art Walk Event in Anacortes – March 1st

This Friday is supposed to be a memorable one here in Anacortes!

On Friday March 1st from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00p.m., ¬†experience some of the most amazing art work you have ever seen. Jennifer Bowman, a very successful artist whose work livens up many private and public collections, will be displaying her 360 degree mural in the model-train room at Anacortes’ Chandler Square retirement village.

This room, having no windows, needed some special help from Bowman, along with some help from Fidalgo & Friends TimeBank of Anacortes, to create such a lively display inspired by the beautiful Anacortes vistas. This event is free for the public but is only happening for one night so be sure to mark your calendar!

Chandler’s Square (Parlor Room)
1300 O Avenue
Anacortes, WA

Jennifer Bowman’s art is also currently being featured at Scott Milo’s Art Gallery in Anacortes which you can also see this Friday from 6-9pm during the Anacortes Art Walk!

It’s Christmas time in the City!

…In the air there’s a feeling of Christmas!

Come to the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce tonight and celebrate the holiday season with the lighting of the Anacortes community Christmas tree at 6pm!  Special guests will be performing holiday music and refreshments will be provided by the Anacortes chapter of the American Red Cross.  Santa Claus will be stopping by to join in the fun and to take photos too!

If you are sticking around downtown this evening, don’t forget to check out the Anacortes Art Walk from 6:00 – 9:00 pm.

Anacortes Arts Festival

blogging-jingles2The 48th Annual Anacortes Arts Festival is set to begin this coming weekend. On August 7, 8 and 9, 2009, the streets of Anacortes fill with 250 outstanding juried Booth Artisans

First class fine art exhibitions at Arts at the Port

Culinary Art with an international selection of foods…

A full lineup of Entertainment with free music on three stages during Festival hours and $15 concerts in the evenings…

And a creative Youth Activities area for the youngest artists.

So many wonderful ways to explore one of the largest festivals in the state. The Arts Festival hours are 10 am to 6 pm Friday and Saturday, and 10 am to 5 pm on Sunday.

And as my friend Jingles suggests….

Do Fido a favor….for this festival, it is best to leave him home.

There are so many other places your best friend would rather visit on our island than to be tangled up among the foot traffic, heat and exhaustion of trying to maneuver the many blocks of displays.  Jingles recommends a run on the beach, a walk at the dog park, or even a long drive in the car with the windows rolled down would be much more fun! I think your dog would agree. Thanks for your consideration.
