The third annual Love at the Library will surely be a night to remember for Anacortes!

Go to the 3rd annual Veteran’s Day celebration! This event honoring and recognizing the veterans from our community will begin at Causland Park (11/11/12) at 10:45 then continue to the Port of Anacortes Transit Shed, ending at 1:00 PM.

The event features Town Crier Richard Riddell, Fidalgo Artillery, NAS Whidbey Color Guard, Jazz Underground, Bud Strom, Kevin Meenaghan, Jim Falk, Mary Frances Close, Anacortes Masonic Lodge, American Legion, Oars, Eric Johnson and Janet Wilson. Bob’s Chowder Bar Hosts Hurricane Sandy Benefit

Hurricane Sandy hit home with Bob’s Chowder Bar co-owner Barbara Atterberry.¬† Barbara was born and raised at the “Jersey Shore” in Monmouth County, one of the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Sandy. ¬†Family and friends are still without power and a first hand report indicates that the situation is dire.

Skagit County residents have a great opportunity to help the Hurricane Sandy victims! ¬†To support those that are surviving the devastating effects of Hurricane Sandy, Anacortes’ Bob’s Chowder Bar & BBQ Salmon will be holding 3 benefit events. ¬†Beginning¬† November 9, 2012 Bob’s will be collecting new hats, socks, gloves and scarves.¬† Anyone donating a new item will receive a free can of soda or bottle of water.

November 10, 2012 will be “Eat for the East.”¬† Ten percent of all of the sales will be donated to the American Red Cross and will be designated to Hurricane Sandy Survivors:¬† New Jersey.

Starting November 26, 2012 donations of new stuffed animals will be accepted.  Donors will receive 10% off their purchase of any kind.

Both collections will be sent to Barbara’s hometown fire department and will be distributed by the volunteer fire fighters in memory of Barbara’ grandfather Fred Stilwell.

The Skagit River Shakespeare Festival- June 4th- July 30th

The Shakespeare Festival, is a gathering of poets, actors and actresses, and poetry fans of all kinds! Shakespeare Northwest presents the Skagit River Shakespeare Festivals touring parks show, ‚ÄúShakespeare‚Äôs Fools‚ÄĚ.

The Skagit River Shakespeare Festival likes to have one show each year made accessible to all audiences throughout Skagit County, so they put on a touring performance that performs at local parks every Saturday in June.

‚ÄúShakespeare‚Äôs Fools‚ÄĚ will give audiences a taste of several of Shakespeare‚Äôs plays, from all genres.¬† Shakespeare‚Äôs plays are still loved today. They are full of many fun and witty ¬†characters that modern audiences can relate to, even 400 years later!

Admission to the plays are free while donations are accepted. Bring your favorite blanket or lawn chair!  The Shakespeare Festival is appropriate for all audiences too.
